Is it safe to query Oracle Fusion from an editor? Credentials and data

Before you connect any tool to a Fusion pod, you should know where credentials and results go. This is how FuiSQL handles them, so you can check it against your own policies.

The data path

  1. Your machine. You write SQL in VS Code.
  2. Oracle's own service. FuiSQL calls the BI Publisher report service your pod already exposes, over HTTPS.
  3. Your Fusion instance. The query runs there and rows return to VS Code, and nowhere else.

There is no middleware, no proxy and no FuiSQL server in the data path.

Credentials

Your username and password go only to your Fusion host. They are stored in VS Code's encrypted Secret Storage, not in plain text on disk.

Privileges

Queries run as a BI Publisher SQL data set, with exactly the privileges your Fusion account already has. FuiSQL adds no access. If your BI role cannot read a table, the query cannot either.

Results and history

History, results and exports are stored locally on your machine. FuiSQL's servers receive license requests only.

What to ask your security team

Start with a non-production environment. Then see how to run SQL against Oracle Fusion from VS Code.
